Apparently a favourite amongst techno and dance-oriented people and I can see why. The low end is this synth is amazing…Good burbly sounds, and the resonance in the filter must sound great in warehouses and/or outdoor raves everywhere. It sounds energetic and really aggressive. I have read all over the net that this is supposed to be like a fifth of a Prophet 5. I do know too much about the prophet five but I know I don´t know if anyone could five times of this. One real strong point of the Pro-1 is that it isn´t really a simple analog keyboard in my opinion. If you compare it to a Mini-moog or the mono/poly you get the feeling that it is easy to get lost on the Pro-1. Also it has a very unique and sharp sound but I wouldn´t call it a signature sound. With this I mean that if you are messing around with a Minimoog within seconds you´ll get the Solo-sound from that album or the bass sound from that band. You´ll pretty easily recognize the main character of the synth. I don´t see the Pro-1 like that. It is more open ended and probably more easy to find “ your “ sound on. It might take a while though.
I must admit though that this keyboard hasn´t been used at Roth Händle as much as it should have been. So far ( until the monopoly showed up ) it has been mostly used as an arpeggiator.
