Pump organ/Harmonium

Description : Swedish pumporgan. By stomping on the pedals you push air through the sound tongues ( ? ). When you press the keys the air is let through and you have sound…
Keys : Need to check…
Production period : 1930´s-1960´s perhaps
Used by : Andreas & Jag, Celestine.
Sounds : One basic sound and then two octave doublers, one for the lower and one for the higher.
Weight : Pretty darn heavy. Doesn´t help either when the handles are placed really badly so it tips over all the time.

Description : This is an old school organ that was used in schools in the early 60´s for playing hymns, childrens songs and psalms. They are very common in Sweden and this is one of the more basic models. There aren´t too many variations soundwise. Either you double your octaves or not.

Soundwise it is not that spectacular. Very limited possibilities…Sounds pretty thin and reedy. You can get almost Stylophone typed sounds out of it with a distortion pedal. It has got autokomp rhytms and of course Autobass.

Andreas & jag used it quite a bit due to the fact that it was the only ” real ” organ we had access to. Kind of scary referring to the kitchen organ as a ” real ” organ. The last band to use it ( may 2004 ) was Celestine who used it for one note on the middle eight part for the track Sunflower.
