Markus Resch & Mellotron Archives

Anyone who has ever played on a Mellotron knows that the sound ranges from tear jerkingly beautiful to Comical (sometimes within eight seconds). If you have played a Mellotron you also know that it can feel like playing on a uneven staircase built out of foam or soft like a Fender Rhodes. Weird sounds are a plenty. Buzzes, hums, crackles and pops. They are all there. Either in the amplification, original sound or in your playing Technique. Tuning problems ? We’ve all got ‘ em !

Are there solutions to all of this ? Yes ! the new Akai 6000 Sampler will probably be the last sampler you’ll ever buy… (Nope just kidding !). Just like every serious studio needs a Mellotron, every Mellotron needs a friend with a soldering Iron (and a lot of patience). Roth Händle studios is very very fortunate to have that friend being Markus Resch.

Markus is Mellotron Archives head honcho. The big cheese of pinch rollers, tape frames and the sworn Nemesis of the CMC-10 control card.
Markus is just by coincidence located in Stockholm and the engineering mastermind behind the new Mellotron Model VI. An new and revised version of the old 400 with improved playability and sound. He is also the proprietor of the entire Mellotron & Chamberlin sound library. So if you feel the need for the Strawberry fields flute, Wineglasses or Patrick Moraz sneaky Relayer live tapes with pre-recorded piano runs give Markus a call and he’ll hook you up.

Markus is responsible for making sure that my Mellotrons are healthy and are making the right weird noises. He is a good friend since the Änglagård days and a remarkable and unique asset in the Mellotron Community. If you have a Mellotron, you’ll be talking to him sooner and/or later.
