Dynacord Percuter
Description : German trigger brain for synth drum pads.
Production period : Judging by the design and sounds I would probably say early 80´s.
Numbers made : ?
Used by : Geller ( live ), Nanook of the North
Sounds : This interesting machine uses cartridges for sounds which are interchangeable. I have the following sounds. 22” Natural Bass, Natural Rimshot, Natural snare 8”, Natural tom 10”, Natural tom 12”, natural tom 13”, Natural tom 15”.

Rythm presets : Nope. You have to play yourself. But the trigger sensitivity is clumsy enough to help you with some double triggering. O.k if you are going for a Aphex twin like unpredictablility in your rhythms otherwise it is fairly annoying. I used this on a new Nanook track a while back and had to do numerous takes of a snaredrum pattern before I could find one that I could loop and use.

Description : I picked up this weird trigger module from a musik store in Sweden for about 40 dollars. By that time they had had it in the store for almost 5 or 6 years without anyone even plugging it in. I have seen two of these in my life…The one that I own and one in a music store in Finland.

The sounds are probably some kind of samples and have a weird kind of 80´s feel to them but they are still ” raw ” enough to be useable not like the newer Dr.Rhythm machines or the Yamaha RX drummachines. There is a pitch control that pitches the entire kit which is very handy. You can pitch the snare down really low so that you can get almost Björk like timbres.-..more white noise-ish stuff. Maybe not your allround sound for an album but definitely worth using for the occasional splash of colour. And not as well known as the Simmons sounds so it feels a bit more unique and weird.

There seems to be a wide variety of cartridges with different sounds…The kit I saw in Finland had electronic toms which must´ve been an amazing allround sound when this machine came.

The looks of this machine is pretty interesting…If you look up the word grey in a dictionary…you shoudn´t be surprised if a picture of the Percuter shows up. Mine has black sides which adds to the eatern europé feel of the machine but I have seen pics on the net with very classy almost red wood sides. It seems like I have been ripped off.
